Full Description
Dovecote 45m east of Manley Old Hall, Sugar Lane. Formerly gatehouse or porch to the original Manley Hall, later dovecot, probably late medieval origins, converted to dovecote in 1660 and repairs of 1799 recorded. Dressed buff Manley sandstone with portion in orange brick, no roof survives. Square in plan. Foundations have projecting course that may have carried a wooden bridge over the moat. Two inscriptions dated 1660 and 1799. Interior contains a stone staircase to the five tiers of nest boxes surviving at upper level (1). Full architectural description (1) and (2).
