Full Description
A large, wedge shaped axe of mottled grey flint. The axe has been polished only at the cutting edge which shows signs of use. The remainder of the surface has been neatly roughed into shape. Probably Neolithic. Found in a market garden, Bolshaw Road in November 1975. There is some uncertainty about the provenance as the garden had just received a consignment of soil from various sources in Wilmslow and it is possible the axe arrived in that. Axe now in private possession (1).
