SJ 7050 8463: An archaeological desk-based assessment, undertaken in 1993 prior to the development of a golf course at High Legh, identified a ring ditch on vertical air photographs dating to 02/06/1985. The ring ditch has an approximate diameter of 15m and is located to the North West of Boundary Farm. This may represent a ploughed-out Bronze Age barrow.

A ring ditch located on pasture land at Peacock Lane, High Legh was discovered through aerial photography. In 1997 and 1999 magnotometer and resistivity surveys were carried out over the site. An aerial photograph taken in 1973 showed a ring ditch on pasture land in a field adjacent to Peacock Lane. In 1996, further aerial photographs were taken which showed the feature to have almost disappeared but the surveys proved that the ring ditch was still there. The resistivity survey depicts an image plot which the ring ditch can be arrowed. Apart form the ring ditch, the field seems to contain several other features: - a possible large semi-circular feature that contains the ring ditch, features within the ring ditches (burials?), there maybe be two circular enclosures possibly cutting the large semi-circular feature and a double ditched linear feature crossing the field from Peter’s Covert to the main road (a relatively modern ploughed out track). The golf course has now been constructed and the site of the ring ditch has been partially covered with top soil. The feature itself remains intact.
