Summary

A water powered cotton mill with a steam engine as a supplementary power source. The mill was built in 1792 and operated until 1825. The mill building, except for the adjacent chimney, was demolished sometime between 1873 and 1897 and the adjacent mill pond reused as a water reservoir. The chimney was demolished in the early twentieth century.

One of the fourteen mills built in Bollington and Rainow by 1806, and one of five which used a steam engine as a supplementary power source.

three storied stone built mill built in 1792, closed in 1825, and demolished in 1899. Only the reservoir survives. The mill site is now covered by the filtration beds of a water treatment works.

This map depicts a T shaped building at this location. No further details.

This map depicts a rectangular building aligned north-south along its longest axis. A narrow rectangular building is depicted against the northern elevation. A smaller building is depicted on the western side of the southern elevation. It is labelled Cotton Mill (Disused). To the west of the building is a sub rectangular pond. The ponds dam is depicted on the western side and a sluice is depicted one quarter of its length from the northern end. A chimney c.13 metres to the north of the building, and within a sperate plot, may or may not be related.

The mill building is no longer extant. The pond is still extant and labelled Reservoir.
