Summary

Mill built in 1810, adjacent to Button Mill. It was 6 storeys high with integral cast iron support columns. It was owned in the early 19th century by William Ayton, and described as an "extensive cotton factory". It later served as an assessment office in 1824 for the return of duties paid on raw silk, hence the name Depot Mill. Now demolished.

Full Description

Built in 1810, adjacent to Button Mill. 6 storeys, 10.5m wide. Integral cast iron support columns. Owned in the early 19th century by William Ayton, and described as an "extensive cotton factory". Now demolished. Served as an assessment office in 1824 for the return of duties paid on raw silk, hence the name Depot Mill (1).
