Summary

Grade II listed former integrated silk mill, comprising mill, dye house, manager's and workers' housing, with workshops and warehouse. It was built by 1804 and extended in 1909. The mill and houses form the 2 long sides of the mill yard and are connected along the north end by the 1909 warehouse. The mill has 3 storeys and the interior has inserted cast iron columns and square wooden posts. It was originally horse powered , then there was an early steam engine house which was replaced in 1909.

Full Description

Former integrated silk mill, comprising mill, dye house, manager's and workers' housing, with workshops and warehouse. Built by 1804, and extended in 1909. The mill and houses form the 2 long sides of the mill yard and are connected along the north end by the 1909 warehouse. The mill has 3 storeys, along a 7 window range (1). 24m x 7.2m (2). Stair turret to left. Possible engine house to W. The original horse powered and early steam engine house replaced with 1909 range. Interior has inserted cast iron columns and square wooden posts. King post roof. To the south is a stone flagged dye house (1). Originally horse powered (2), but no physical evidence survives (1).
