Summary

Large, possibly natural mound with irregular disturbance recorded as being a possible round barrow. The large irregular depression is thought to be old sandpit. There is no evidence for the survival of a barrow. Round barrows are a type of burial mound, particularly used in the Bronze Age. Mounds of earth and stone were placed over a burial or cremation. A single barrow could be re-used for several later burials.

Full Description

Large, possibly natural mound with irregular disturbance. Site is a large depression, now under grass (1). OS suggest this may be natural (2). Possibly associated with a collared urn found in 19th century (RN:1356) (1). Large irregular depression thought to be old sandpit. No evidence for survival of a barrow (3).
