Fulshaw Hall, Alderley Rd. The Lordship of Fulshaw, which included the Manor of Fulshaw, was granted by Robert de Fulshaw to Sir Richard Fitton about AD 1200. About 1233-36 Sir Richard's son granted the manor to the Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem. Courts of the Knights were held at Fulshaw, the earliest dated to 1413. The manor was in part granted to Richard del Shert by the brethren in 1277 and by the end of fourteenth century the lands seem to have become sub-divided. Courts were held here in 1666, when the boundaries of Fulshaw were set out, and up to the nineteenth century. The Hall was built on the site of Sherd Manor House. This was a large timber building and was in a ruinous condition when it was pulled down and the present hall built on the site by Samuel Finney. Completed in 1684 with further alterations and addittions in 1733.
