Full Description
Wright's Farmhouse, Clayholes Road. Early C17 with C19 alterations. Stone-slate roof, stone ridge and three stone chimneys. T-shaped plan. Two-storey, three-bay north front. Central bay projects forward and has lean-to against ground storey. Windows with hood moulds. Right end bay has ovolo-moulded doorcase with a flat hood above. Remains of three-light stone mullion with hood mould above. Interior: Three rooms on ground floor. Door opens into dairy with two chamfered beams. Main room has heck post and screen and firebeam forming inglenook. Ovolo-moulded beam in ceiling linking device in living room to operate butter churn in dairy survives (1).
