Full Description

Roman structural evidence was recorded to the rear of No 34 Bridge Street (then the premises of Messrs Davies Bros) in 1954. A single Roman capital was recorded by labourers during excavations for a boiler house on the property and said to be 25.9m west of the street frontage and 23.3m south of Commonhall Street.

The sandstone capital is of debased floral style for a column 0.45m in diameter and demonstrates the presence of a building of monumental character nearby. (2)
