Summary

Grade II listed gate piers to north forecourt of Lyme Hall. They are one roomed lodge houses built in the late 17th century with 18th and 19th century additions. Built of buff sandstone they are square with a semi-circular headed window. There are lions on the capstone and the old chimney for fireplaces in the lodges has been replaced by an urn.

Full Description

Gate Piers to north forecourt, Lyme Hall. Gate Piers or tiny lodges late C17, remainder mid C18 or 1821. Ashlar buff sandstone, square in plan on moulded plinth. Body has clasping rusticated quoins with semi-circular headed window to rear. Capstone has later lions. Chimney for fireplaces in these tiny lodges is now the urn at the centre of the overthrow (1).
