Full Description
The Sun Inn was a black and white timber and plaster building with high pitched gables facing the Market Place. It was pulled down in 1863 when the present building for the Parrs Banking Company was erected (1). Photograph shows the old Sun Inn, Chestergate (therefore, probably situated on the corner of Chestergate with the Market Square, on the site of the present National Westminster Bank). Two gables, small framing to ground floor, chevron timberwork to jettied first floor (2).
