Summary

Grade II listed house. It has late 18th century recasing to an earlier core. It now has a plain but attractive early 19th century shop windows flanking a simple moulded doorcase and ledged door. The interior has good heavy exposed roof timbers which are said to have come from the medieval building of the castle.

Full Description

Nos. 38 & 40 Jordangate. Late C18 recasing to earlier core. Coursed local rubble, two storeys, two late C19 rectangular three-light oriels. Plain but attractive early C19 shop windows flanking simple moulded doorcase and ledged door. Interior has good heavy exposed roof timbers which are said to have come from the medieval building of the castle (RN:1563/3/1). Full architectural description (1).
