Summary

Grade II* listed house built in the late 16th or early 17th century. It has an early 19th century red brick front built onto a timber frame. The ground storey has an early 19th century shallow bowed shop front . The interior has much good exposed timber framing and ceiling beams throughout and good early 17th century oak staircase.

Full Description

No.28 Chestergate. Late C16 or early C17. Early C19 red brick front to timber frame revealed internally. Two sash windows with flat brick arches and stone sills. Ground storey has early C19 shallow bowed shop front with glazing bars and cornice; plain wood eaves; slates. Interior has much good exposed timber framing and ceiling beams throughout and good early C17 oak staircase. Full architectural description (1).
