The Large Barn probably dates from the late 17th century and was probably a combination barn, with accommodation for cattle at one end, full-height storage space for crops at the other end, and a threshing floor between. The building has been altered considerably, and the front wall now has what are probably early 20th century garage doors and a late 19th century stable door and windows. Much of the rear wall, now internal, also appears to have been rebuilt, and the first-floor structure is a recent replacement for what was probably a late 19th century floor. Internally, stalls remain in the stable, but they are relatively late and plain. The main remaining feature is the roof structure, which appears to be original, although repaired during recent re-roofing works .
The lean-tos at the rear appear to be later additions providing additional cattle accommodation . The lack of any surviving fittings or roof structure, and alterations to windows, make them difficult to date, but they appear to have been added before the Tithe map was produced in 1838 and altered later in the 19th century.
Although partly infilled later, the brick piers and oak roof structure of the former Hay Barn remain. This was probably added in the later 18th century and incorporates re-used timbers from the roof of a timber-framed building .
