Full Description

A building inscription built into the wall of a cellar at No.64 Watergate Street was discovered in 1938. The text refers to 'the work which had been restored after falling into ruin' and is thought to refer to a Mother Goddess (1).

It may have come from a centurion's house in the westernmost barrack block, west of the headquarters building. Stone now removed and in the Grosvenor Museum (2).
