Summary

Grade II listed early 18th century Market Hall. The tile roof is supported by two rows of four sandstone pilllars. The side facing the market square has a pedimented gable. It is also known as the Buttermarket.

Full Description

Market Hall. Early C18. Two rows of four sandstone Tuscan pillars with renewed capitals carry a hipped tile roof. Pedimented gable to centre of side facing market square. Floor of crazy paving (1). Pevsner dates building to late C17 (2). Provisional list by DOE of 1963 states it is dated 1733 (3).
