Summary

This school shown on the OS 1st Edition map of Cheshire, 1876 . It was built by George Fortescue Wilbraham, when the former Grammer School was demolished in 1860. The master's residence and school are both built of red brick with blue brick decoration.

Full Description

Free Grammar School shown on the OS 1st Edition 1:2500 map of 1876 (1). Part of 108 Welsh Row was the old Grammar School, built by George Fortescue Wilbraham, when the former Grammer School (located in the north east corner of the churchyard) was demolished in 1860. The complex includes a master's residence, and accomodated pupils from the old Blue Cap School (2). The house is built to two storeys (with attic), and having a projecting gabled wing to the front, with the schoolroom being located on the right hand side. Both of the structures are built of red brick, with blue brick diapering (3).
