Summary

The first maps to show this Primitive Methodist chapel are the OS First Editions of Nantwich (1851) and of Cheshire (1876). The movement first preached in Nantwich in 1817, but there was no chapel until 1826 when a building in Marsh Lane was converted. The March Lane chapel was used until the Welsh Row chapel was opened in 1837. It is a Grade II listed building made of red brick.

Full Description

The first maps to show this Primitive Methodist chapel are the OS First Edition 1:528 (1851) (4) and 1:2500 (1876) (1). The movement first preached in Nantwich in 1817, but several years elapsed before the society obtained a footing in the town. In 1826 they purchased a building in Marsh Lane for 100 pounds, and fitted it with seats, a gallery and a pulpit. The chapel continued as a place of worship until 1837, when the building on Welsh Row was opened (2). The building has two storeys and is built of red brick (3).
