Full Description
The earliest map that the Ebeneezer Methodist Chapel is shown upon is the OS First Edition map of 1876 (1). The chapel was built in 1858 by the United Methodist Free Church, a group of dissenters that had been expelled from the Weslyan Chapel in 1835. The building was constructed upon the site of a home for children who were employed in the local cotton mill (2).
