A grass covered, sub-square mound, measuring c.24m square, and situated on the slopes above Combermere Mere. It stands c.2m high and is largely level on top, apart from two small, shallow depressions. It may represent a park feature.
<2> Chris Burnett Associates, 2012, Combermere Abbey, Parkland Plan: Final Parkland Plan, p.18 no.35 (Unpublished Report). SCH6895.
A grass-covered, rectangular earthen mound, 26m by 28m and standing up to 1.6m high with a sloping top , is situated on level ground. From this position overlooking Comber Mere there is an un-obscured view of the house . The form and position of this mound suggests it acted as an ornamental feature within the park. Growing on top of the mound is a mature oak tree, with an estimated age of 250 – 300 years and several recently planted oak saplings. A post and wire fence has been erected around the mound and the surrounding ground is improved pasture.
