Full Description
Three storey and attic gable ended town house dated 1584. Timber framed with plaster infilling. Jetty at each floor carried on carved brackets with human faces, etc. Renaissance pilasters at lst floor (1). Known as the Queen's Aid House because of its inscription reading 'God grant our Royal Queen in England long to reign, for she hath put her helping hand to build this town again. Thomas Cleese made this worke. The year of Oure Lorde God 1584' (3). Thomas Cleese is recorded by inscription as working at Churche's Mansion and the Church in Nantwich (2).
