Full Description

Traces of early Roman activity was recorded at Folliot House in 1955 during archaeological investigations undertaken by Mr Petch. The earliest activity, comprised a number of pits and deposits sealed by the primary floors of the barrack blocks that appeared to date to the mid second century at the latest. Due to the limited nature of the investigation these features were not extensively investigated however their similarity to early Roman activity at other sites in the fortress would suggest they indicated the initial clearance and preparation of the area.
