Full Description

<1> Ordnance Survey, 1909-1912, Ordnance Survey Second Revision County Series (Epoch 3) 25 inch to 1 mile - Cheshire, SJ6959 (Maps and Plans). SCH4361.

Prior to this map of 1909, the Ordnance Survey map (see 2) of 1898 only depicted two railway tracks at this location. This map depicts four tracks converging to continue north-west as two tracks. Associated are points, signals and a signal box. To the south-west is a new accommodation bridge which provides access to the signal box.

This section has been converted to four tracks throughout. The signal box is no longer extant.

A new building, possibly a new signal box, has been constructed on the northern side of the line adjacent to the accommodation bridge.

British Railways London Midland Region Special Notice 700G records the intention to build a 'new box' at Coppenhall Junction. It is dated May 1961.
