A number of oblique aerial photographs taken in 1982 show a complex of earthworks to the north of Woodhey Chapel. These consist of two rectangular terraces placed in front of the site of the demolished hall. One is enclosed by a ditch, the other overlies the adjacent field of ridge & furrow. These must belong to a formal garden. A more substantial ditch partly encloses the site of the present Woodhey Hall and may be the moat of the medieval manor house. It is aligned differently to the formal gardens
