Summary

A walled garden south of a now demolished site at Woodhey Hall. It is a roughly rectangular enclosure enclosed by high brick wall. There are faint traces of earthworks of the formal garden to the 17th century Woodhey Hall.

Full Description

Walled Garden south of site now demolished, Woodhey Hall. Early C17 for Sir Thomas Wilbraham or late C17 for Lady Wilbraham. Not quite rectangular enclosure c. 90m by c.100 enclosed by high brick wall in English Garden Wall Bond with stone plinth, quoins and two-course coping. Some curved ramps accommodate slopes and south-east corner is cut off (1). Must have contained a formal garden to Woodhey Hall. Faint traces of earthworks are still visible (2).
