In 1851, a large Corinthian capital, with silver coin of Trajan beneath it, was found in Handbridge, possibly from the vicinity of the church of St Mary’s without the Walls; the find is discussed in the same context as a later 1885 find in that area (CHER 8430/2), and so is likely from the same general location (1). No other information on the nature of this discovery is available, and the monument’s GIS point is approximate.
