Full Description
A watching brief was carried out during house construction, following the building of the Middlewich bypass. An area of red clay "fired at low temperatures to produce a semi-hard, crumbly consistence" was recorded, subrounded in shape, 1m in diameter and 0.15m in depth. One sherd of Romano-British pottery was recovered. There were no other archaeological features nearby. Possibly represents a small domestic hearth (1).
