Full Description
A watching brief was carried out ahead of housing development after the construction of the Middlewich bypass. A succession of linear features on the same alignment were recorded. The earliest feature was a gully (22,33). It was superceded by another linear cut (10,19,29) which was 21m x 0.7m wide x 0.4m deep. A third linear feature (7, 15, 27) cut the earlier ditch fills on the same alignment and was 21m x 1.7m x 0.6m deep. No dating evidence but on the basis of the stratigraphy and soil profile it was suggested that the boundary was of some antiquity (1).
