Monument record 1056/1/2 - Twemlow Hall Barrows
Please read our guidance about the use of Cheshire Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
One of two possible barrows at Twemlow Hall. In 1921 they were of a considerable height and were located on the south side of the moat, between the garden of Twemlow Hall and the pasture field south of the moat. The barrows were levelled when the field, known as Sandpit Field, was ploughed and the soil was thrown into the moat on the south side of the Hall. Excavation in 1939 by did not produce any finds. Another possible interpretation is that they may be garden features.
