Summary

A mill is recorded at Kinderton in 1330 and the mill pool and dam lay between the mill and King Street. The pool has now been filled in and built over. The present mill building is Grade II listed has been converted into a workshop. It dates from the 17th century and was originally three storeys high and has later additions. No milling machinery survives.

The present mill building has been converted into a workshop. Has datestone 1609 but this may have been moved, but has C17 stone-dressed brickwork and slate roof. Original three storeys high with later additions. Chamfered stone mullioned windows and ball finials to coped gables. Former wheel pit shows scratch marks of the one wheel and the setting for another on the opposite side of the building. No machinery survives except one penstock. Mill building at SJ 7049 6636

Site visit in 2002 prior to the building of a new houise in the area of the millpond. Discovered that the area of the mill pond was filled with imported soil and graded in the 1980s for the construction of Pool house.
