Full Description
Gatehouse to Churchyard of St Mary, The Green. 17th century. Yellow sandstone ashlar. Central round archway with hood mould and lateral walling which has offsets. Battlemented parapet above with crocketed pinnacles. A stone above the arch has an inscription in 18th century script which reads "Thomas Dodd DD/Rector of this Parish" and a further line which is partially illegible but records the date 1542, although Dodd in fact died in the late 17th century(1).
