NEWBOLD ASTBURY C.P. THE GREEN SJ 86 SW 4/53 Gateway to Churchyard of St Mary
GV II
Churchyard gateway. C17. Yellow sandstone ashlar. Central round archway with hood-mould and lateral walling which has offsets. Battlemented parapet above with crocketed pinnacles. A stone above the arch has an inscription in C18 script which reads: "Thomas Dodd DD/Rector of this parish" and a further line which is partially illegible but records the date 1542 although Dodd in fact died in the late C17. Previously listed together with the Church of St Mary, the Green (q.v.).
