Blackden Manor, Station Road. Former Manor house, now large private house, c.1597. Timber frame encased in red brickwork late 19th century with 20th century additions. Sandstone slate roof. Three bays with added set back one bay wing north-east. The east return has a small area of timbers in chevron arrangement at first floor level. Interior: Exposed timber framing in a number of walls. Bevelled beams, some with cross framing. One room panelled in oak from floor to ceiling in raised and fielded panels with bolection moulds. Jacobean oak staircase to first floor (1). A timber framed house with a twin-gabled entrance front rebuilt in brick. The house was built for the Kinsey family and probably dates from the early 17th century. It was much restored in 1920 by the architect James Henry Sellers who added new wings at the rear forming a courtyard where some original timbering is exposed. A window pane in the dining room has the engraved date 1675 and the big brick barn is dated 1709.
