Former Manor House, now large private house, c.1597. Timber frame encased in red brickwork late C19, with C20 additions. Sandstone slate roof. 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays with added set back one bay wing north-east, 4-bay east return and 3-bay triple-gable west return. The centre bay, which is set back two metres, has a pair of oak fully glazed doors surmounted by a shell pediment on moulded brackets. A three-light casement surmounts the pediment and the doorcase is flanked by tall, narrow, semicircular headed windows. 1-3-5-and-7-light stone mullion windows with rectangular leaded glazing. End-bay gables set back above a slender band which rises up over first floor windows. There are single stone dressed lights in the gables. The west return has mainly 4-light timber mullioned casement windows. The east return has a small area of timbers, in chevron arrangement, at first floor level, a replaced 10-panel oak door with stone surround and a two storey canted bay window with stone mullions. There are three 4-light stone mullion windows ground floor and three 3-light timber mullion windows at first floor level. High standing chimneys with angled flues and stone caps and large square stack with chevron decoration. Interior: Exposed timber framing in a number of walls. Bevelled beams, some with cross framing. Two-panelled doors on "H" hinges. One room panelled in oak from floor to ceiling in raised and fielded panels with bolection moulds. Jacobean oak staircase to first floor with turned balusters and ball finials to newels.
