Full Description
Archaeological investigations to the rear of properties on Nicholas Street in 1974 recorded evidence of Roman activity from the first century. The earliest phase of activity on the site comprised traces of a timber structure on a north-south alignment. Although dating evidence was limited, several sherds of pottery discovered from contexts within the excavation suggest a late first century date for the use of this structure. (4)
