Summary

An aureus of Vespasian was found 'in making the foundations of the Castle'. The obverse reads - IMP COES VESP AVG CEN, while the reverse has a figure with an olive branch standing by an altar, and is inscribed PAX AVG. Now lost. A legionary antefix was also found at the Castle.

Full Description

An aureus of Vespasian was found 'in making the foundations of the Castle'. The obverse reads - IMP COES VESP AVG CEN, while the reverse has a figure with an olive branch standing by an altar, and is inscribed PAX AVG (1). Now lost (2). A legionary antefix was also found at the Castle (3).
