Summary

The Pheasant Inn, Pennsylvania Lane is a Grade II listed building. Originally a farmhouse it is now a now public house. It dates from the 16th century with 18th and 20th century additions. It is mostly timber framed with brick nogging on a stone plinth. Part of the building has been built in sandstone. The main part has tall narrow framing with 20th century windows. A brick range has been added to the rear. Inside timber framing is visible in the bar and there is an 18th century black moulded stone fireplace. A smoking oven survives in an upper storey.

Full Description

The Pheasant Inn, Pennsylvania Lane. Formerly farmhouse, now public house, late C16, C18 extension and C20 alterations and extensions. Mostly timber-framed with brick nogging on stone plinth. Portion in sandstone blocks. Welsh slate roof. Two-storey. Five-bay south front. Core has tall narrow small framing with small C20 windows and a new central door with timber hood. Left end bay taller and in stone. Added brick range to rear. Interior: Timber framing visible in bar and C18 black moulded stone fireplace. Lateral chimney has kitchen range inserted to rear. Smoking oven survives in upper storey. Full architectural description (1).
