Find Spot record 8030/29 - Roman Finds, County Hall

This monument represents chance finds from the area of the County Hall, Chester, recovered at various times during non-archaeological activity. Finds from the site of County Hall include a denarius of Elagabalus. Obv: IMP CAE M AVR AVG P TR P, bust draped and laureate right. Rev: FIDES (PV) BLICA. Found in 1939 (1).

A denarius of Septimius Severus was found on the site of County Hall in 1939 and was presented to the Grosvenor Museum. From the same area in 1954, a small quantity of Samian ware of second century date was recovered, including the base of a cup with the stamp CACASl (Cacasus of Lezous). Presented to the Museum (2).
