Full Description

Coin from Nicholas Street. In 1826, an aureus of Nero was found in a field near Smith's Walk, Nicholas Street, or near Captain Wrench's house. Obv:- portrait inscribed NERO CAESAR AUGUSTUS. Rev:- a seated figure, with the legend SALVS (1) & (2).

It is possible this is the same coin as that recorded from a field near Smith's Walk in 1836 (CHER 8042/7), however, the records are not clear. (4)
