Archaeological monitoring and recording undertaken in 2024 during the removal of overburden within the north-west extension of South Arclid Silica Sand Quarry recorded a north-south ditch measuring approximately 120m by 2.3m and 0.5m in depth. The ditch contained a single fill comprising a compacted dark brown clay silt containing a horse shoe of post-medieval date. A field boundary is depicted on nineteenth century mapping (source 2) at this location.
