Summary

A mid eighteenth century house which once had extensive gardens to the rear. The latter are largely lost to development. The list entry suggests that this building, and the grounds, may have been part of Nuthurst School (see CHER 179/0/64).

Full Description

A mid eighteenth-century detached house. Red brick; two storeys; segmental projection to left; four sash windows overall with stone lintels and key blocks; good moulded stone doorcase with three quarter Ionic pilasters, open pediment, panelled reveals; semi-circular Adam type fanlight and six-panelled door; two moulded lead rainwater heads; plain eaves and atone-coped parapet to segmental bay; gabled ends; tiles, Formerly Nuthurst Garden School.

Depicts extensive gardens to the rear with a series of large outbuildings or service buildings, including glass houses.

Possibly associated with CHER 179/0/64? This school was reputedly founded in 1881 and was still open in the early 1970s.
