A level 2 building survey, including photographic recording, was undertaken in 2023 for the farmhouse at Yew Tree Farm prior to its demolition. The farmhouse is depicted on the tithe map of 1842 as an L-shaped building consisting of a principle range orientated north-east/south-west and fronting onto Woore Road, with a perpendicular wing to the north-west elevation at the northern end. However, the structural evidence indicates the presence of a significantly older structure at the Yew Tree Farm site. This structure probably had a timber-framed construction, potentially built during the 17th to 18th century based on the style of handcrafted timber-framing. All that remains of the earlier building is an internal partition, the purlins, and the ridge beam. A hand-carved ceiling beam in the Living Room, though visibly aged itself, was not integrated into the timber-framing and appears to have been added later.

The existing brick built farmhouse began as a rectangular NE-SW range, seemingly on the footprint of the earlier timber framed building. The bricks are wire-cut and although the building predates the 1842 tithe it is likely to be no earlier than early 19th century construction otherwise hand-made bricks would have been utilised. The seam in the north-east facing external elevation would suggest that there was a projecting wing at the location of the current NW-SE extension. This was later extended to form the NW-SE extension and to create the L-shaped building visible today. This occurred prior to the 1842 tithe and the use of similar wire-cut bricks would suggest that this occurred not long after the construction of the NE-SW rectangular range.
