An east/west orientated linear feature, designated as archaeology, was identified through geophysical survey in 2014 (see source 2) undertaken in advance of the construction of the A536 Congleton Link Road. A strip, map and sample excavation was then undertaken to investigate the area further and revealed several linear, ditch features forming a field/drainage system. Ditches 13140 and 13141 were found to contain post-medieval material and re-cuts containing ceramic land-drains.
