Full Description

<1> Higham N J, 1984-9, Professor Nick Higham's Aerial Photographs, NJH 3489/5 & 3489/7, 01/08/1986 (Aerial Photograph). SCH7659.

Sub-rectangular and sub circular cropmarks are visible in field s adjacent to The Riddings and Hey’s Wood.

Many of these features are visible as ponds or earthworks on RAF aerial photographs (see 3) and are depicted as such on the Ordnance Survey map of 1875-1877 (see 4). However, some, especially the larger feature at the western end of Clay Flatt, may be associated to the former brick field depicted to the west on the tithe maps for the townships of Weaverham and Over (see 5).
