Parallel linear earthworks in the form of distinct ridges and troughs known as ridge and furrow formed by cultivation practices. This type, characterised by a regular pattern of thin ridges and furrows, was created by nineteenth century steam ploughing. A former field boundary, running parallel to the adjacent Yatehouse Lane, also survives in this area as an earthwork.
<3> See map for surveyor, c.1837-51, Cheshire Tithe Maps and Awards, EDT 82/2 c.1846 (Maps and Plans). SCH3266.
The former field boudary is depicted on this map.
