Summary

The first documentary references to Hall O’ The Heath date from the early fifteenth century. The present farmstead contains buildings dating from at least the early nineteenth century. The present farmhouse, or hall, was probably built at the turn of the twentieth century.

Hall O’ The Heath (aka Heath House): The first documentary reference (maner’ de la Heth) dates from 1422, with further references in 1500 (the Hall of the Heath), 1621 (Hall o’ Heath), 1686 (Hall of Heath), 1697, and 1724 (Hall-a-Heath).

Now a farmhouse named after the Heath family who acquired lands in Haslington circa 1422.

This map depicts the hall. To the south-west is a sub-rectangular area containing an L-shaped building against its western corner and south-western side. Two smaller buildings are located on the north-eastern side of this area. The plot is described as house, buildings, fold, garden, orchard etc.

This map depicts the probable farmyard and farm buildings depicted on the tithe map (see 3). To the immediate north-west of the hall is a further small building, possible pigsties. Orchards surround the hall on its norther, eastern and south-eastern sides.

The small range of buildings to the immediate north-west of the hall have been demolished, with similar buildings built further away. Two open sided buildings, probable hay barns have been built to the immediate north-west of the L-shaped farm building.

The hall has been demolished and a new farmhouse has been built to the north-east.

A further range of farm buildings has been built along the south-eastern side of the farmyard.
