Summary

A former farmstead dating from at least the mid eighteenth century. The two principle buildings, the farmhouse and the barn, have been converted to domestic residences.

Full Description

This map depicts the farmhouse with an L-shaped farm building to the immediate west. The plot is described as a “house, farm buildings, yard and garden”.

Similar to the farmstead depicted on the 1845 Tithe map (see 1).

The farmstead still looks very similar to the farmstead depicted on the 1845 Tithe map (see 1).

The farmhouse was sub-divided into separate properties sometime in the late twentieth century. The adjacent farm building has been converted to a domestic property more recently, with the northern part of the building being demolished as part of the conversion.

House 1764, of stone-dressed brown brick, Flemish bond to front, with stone-slate roof. Flush gable chimneys. Two storeys plus attics. Replaced door in case with entablature. Windows (two to lower storey, three to upper storey) have stone architraves and cills containing small-pane casements (bars removed from left window to each storey). Projecting sandstone plinth and rusticated quoins; oval datestone above central window. A casement window to attic (with architrave as at front) in each gable; that to the right is blocked. Nineteenth century wing at rear.
