A trapezoidal building is depicted on the 1848 Tithe Map. Given that it lies immediately to the south of the Chester to Crewe railway, it may have been a store or workshop constructed/used by the railway. The OS First Edition map of 1873 shows that the trapezoidal building has been replaced by a larger building (see CHER 11520).
In 2020, the brick and sandstone foundations of the building were partially uncovered during an archaeological evaluation, prior to development of the site. A brick wall, orientated south-east/north-west, had been built on a sandstone block sub-base made up of large roughly hewn red sandstone blocks. It is thought that this wall represents the eastern wall of the building.
