Summary

Mid to late nineteenth century maps depicts a plot to the north of the White Lion Inn at Barthomley. The tithe map identifies this plot as a "House in two dwellings, Garden and Orchard". Buildings not apparent on the 2nd edition OS maps of late 19th century

A desk-based assessment produced in 2020 documents the two, adjoining cottages depicted on the 1836 Tithe Map to the north of the White Lion Inn. The buildings and associated plot (no. 386), are recorded as being owned by Lord Crewe and occupied by James Bradshaw, as two dwellings, garden and orchard. The buildings are no longer extant.
